Disney Spoils Another Surprise Cameo With a New Poster For ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’

Another day, another spoiler for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. In what feels like a desperate attempt to get people excited about their upcoming (and potentially final?) Pirates film, Disney has released a new character poster for their film, revealing yet another big actor that will be showing up in the film. If you haven’t already had the other “surprise” cameos spoiled for you, I won’t discuss those reveals here, but I will be talking about this one.

Check out the new poster below.

The new poster, via Twitter, shows that none other than Paul McCartney will be boarding the crew cast for the upcoming sequel. Now, there are two things to be said about this new poster. Firstly, this is an absolutely horrible photoshop job. Just horrible. Secondly, this is clearly a ploy to get more asses in seats, but a quick glance over at IMDb shows that McCartney is playing the extremely pivotal role of…wait for it…”Jail Guard #2″.

Huh.

So, even though I get why Disney would promote McCartney’s appearance in the film, wouldn’t this be something you’d just rather see in theaters, especially if it’s just something so brief? Again, it seems like Disney is a bit worried about their prospects with this film (this is the first installment since the poorly-received On Stranger Tides more than six years ago and there isn’t a ton of buzz behind it), but this, along with the other reveals given away in the most recent TV spots, are just spoiling what could’ve been the biggest surprises of the film.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg and opens on May 26, 2017.
